Lavender Essential oil is extracted from the lavender plant using steam distillation. After the distillation process you are left with pure lavender essential oil that has been used for centuries for its therapeutic healing powers.
Lavender is one of the more commonly known essential oils and is most often associated with being relaxing, calming and inducing us into a sleep coma. While lavender is amazing at relaxing our bodies and minds it has so many other benefits as well. Lavender can be used to treat depression, aching muscles, acne, burns, cuts, wounds, earaches, eczema, fatigue, fevers, headaches, insomnia, menstrual cramps, moths & mosquitoes, scabies, shingles, sinusitis, anxiety, migraines, respiratory distress, sunburn and so many many more ailments.
Topically- Lavender essential oil is used in our Calm Body Elixir, Calm balm, Calm Nourishing complex as well as some of our soaps. Lavender oil inhibits the growth of bacteria making it extremely powerful for combating acne and other skin problems. When essential oils are applied topically they stimulant thermal receptors and can destroy bacteria and fungus on the spot.
Our Calm Bath Soaks have lavender essential oil in them and are used to treat sore tired muscles and provide stress and relaxation relief.
Aromatically- When diffused or inhaled, an essential oil stimulates the olfactory system which than travels to the Limbic system in the brain. The limbic system is the part of the brain that controls our emotions and memories. Once the limbic system is triggered, chemicals are released and we get immediate reactions such as relaxation, sense of calm or even stimulation depending on the essential oil.
Our favourite way of reaping the benefits of Lavender aromatically is by burning one of our Aromatic Calm Candles.
